FEBRUARY 2018 NEWSLETTER

I hope you found the speakers from Swale Friends of the Earth interesting. They hadn’t done this sort of thing before but the subject was certainly thought provoking. I am going to Take the Challenge 18th– 24th February and have already started to make long term changes. There is a lot of information on the WI website on plastic waste.

This coming Wednesday 7th the film group will meet at 7.30pm at SITTINGBOURNE cinema to see The Greatest Showman. This is meant to be a great film with a brilliant soundtrack. If you are interested just let Barbara know on 01795 474620.

Hopefully you have already put your name on the list for our Quiz Night on Friday 23rd March 7.00 for 7.30. This will be a great evening and a very good laugh as always. Plus Steve will be our Quizmaster – watch out Jeremy Vine! If your name isn’t down just let Marcelle know ASAP. 01622 884536. Teams of 6-8, there will be a lovely supper but please bring your own drink. £7.50 per person.

The trip to Sittingbourne Greyhounds has changed to a week early. We are now going on Friday 16th February, time to be announced. The evening will cost £26.95 for a three course meal, entrance and a race card. If you haven’t put your name down call me ASAP please.

The Coffee morning at Frinsted takes place on Saturday 3rd March 10.30-12.00. We are raising the money for New Leaf Domestic Abuse charity.  We will need cakes, books, bric a brac, plants; raffle prizes in fact anything that you think would sell. Please come along and support us on the day even if you can’t bring anything along. We are hosting the event so will need lots of items and a few helpers for the stalls please.

Thank you to all the women who put some money in the Honey Pot, please bring along as much as you can spare next month so we can take it to the ACM. The Association of Country Women Worldwide is a really wonderful body and the WI support is very much needed. This year’s project sponsors 30 women to train as beekeepers which will enable them to become self-sufficient and look after their families. Please put whatever you can into the pot at the front table when you sign in.

The craft club will meet at Joyce’s House, (as Manor Cottage is now known!) on Wednesday 21th Feb. 13.00-15.00. Please let Joyce know if you are attending. You can bring along something that you are working on or start something new. There are lots of ideas on the Women’s Institute website if you want some inspiration.

Our first lunch club this year will meet on Thursday 8th March 13.00 at The Dove in Dargate. Please let Marcelle know if you want to put your name down. There will be lifts available for those who need one. More details to follow but here is an idea:  http://thedovedargate.co.uk/Lunch_Special.html

There is a Group meeting of the WI’s in our local group on 10th April at 2pm Borden. If you would like to come along please give Marcelle your name. These are the same as our monthly meetings with just a few more ladies.

East Kent Federation organise a lunch at Chartham VH to discuss this years proposed resolution. This is always a good meeting and costs just £6.50. it is on Monday 23rd April 10am.Please let Marcelle know if you would like to attend. Again we can car share.

On Wednesday 25th April we are going to take a trip to The Turner centre with Afternoon Tea at the Walpole Bay hotel afterwards. There will be lifts organised if you need one. The cost of an afternoon tea is approx. £12 (depending on numbers etc.). Names to Angela please.

A big thanks to Donna for updating the MwF board. Each month she will print off the recipe of the month so please help yourself and take the time to look at the photos of our events and to put your name on the lists of events. We have a lot going on and it can get overwhelming at the meeting. Don’t forget to look at our Website too. www.milsteadwithfrinstedwi.co.uk  if you are unsure about anything please contact me.

If there are any events in the EK news that you would like to attend please contact Marcelle and she will book it for you.
