June 2019.

I hope you all enjoyed Belinda’s inspiring story. Huckleberry Farm is a really natural setting and I love it! Great place to take children but maybe we should have a WI trip there!

So lovely to see so many happy faces last night and great to see Valerie too.

Next week Tuesday11th June 7 of us are going for lunch at Old Weavers House then taking a boat down the river in Canterbury. We are meeting at 12.30. If you fancy joining us it’s not too late.

The trip to Provender House on Tuesday 2nd July at 2.30pm is all paid up, but I can still add names if you are interested.  The price is £11 for concessions with £6.50 for tea and cake

Our Annual Garden Party will take place on Thursday July 4th in Janice’s garden. We have a great entertainer and a BBQ. If your name is not on the list can you please let Marcelle know ASAP as we need to cater for the event? Also please note that we have had to rescind our invitation to husbands. Sorry for the confusion! You will need to bring a plate, bowl, cutlery, glass and a drink (plus a garden chair if you have one and are able to carry it).

The Bredgar Group lunch on July 11th at Upchurch Golf Club is all paid for.

There is a Garden Party to celebrate East Kent’s Centenary on Monday July 22nd at St Edmunds School, Canterbury. Please let Marcelle know if you want to attend. There are two sittings and the cost is £15 .I believe that Vena will be demonstrating Tai-Chi at the party. There are details in your WI magazine.

We are visiting Shepherd Neame for a tour and a 2 course meal on Friday 18th October in the evening. The price is £30. Please put your name on the list if you are interested, I have had to change the proposed date.

We are visiting the Great Danes for a Christmas Beatles lunch; the price is £30 for a 3 course meal and entertainment. Could you please pay Dilys when you next see her so we can make a group booking before all the tickets go?

The Art Course is now booked for 8 people on Monday 10th, 17th and 24th June. Don’t forget to bring £15 along on Monday.  Should be interesting!

The Frinsted Coffee morning is on Saturday July 6th 10.30-12.00. We need cakes, brick a brac, tombola prizes, plants and people to help us again. If you are free to help could you please let me know?

Milstead Church is organising a summer event with the Maypole Minstrels singing. This takes place on July 13th starting at 6.30 for 7pm. The cost is £10 and includes a pimms and light supper. Please see Janice for tickets (or let me know). Please support our lovely church and come along and meet friends.

The next Horticultural Society event is a trip to Wisley on 21st July.  Well worth joining!

The film group are seeing Collette on 21st June at the Avenue theatre at 7.45pm. Please let Barbara know if you are coming.

The committee are organising a village get together later in the year, 15th October at 1pm. We will provide a light lunch for £3. This is open to everybody in or around the village; the last one was a lovely afternoon.

We will be having our Christmas lunch on Saturday 7th December 1pm at the George Newnham

There will be a social morning in Milstead village hall next Saturday 15th from 11-2. There will be plants available too.

There are several events organised by East Kent Federation in your EK news magazine. If you are interested in any of them just let myself or Marcelle know and we can book it.

Look forward to seeing you all at Janice’s house, Rose Cottage, next month with your plates, glass, cutlery and drinks! Let’s all cross our fingers and pray for sun!
