January 2016 Newsletter

Hello Ladies, hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to a fun year. We try to think of events that you would enjoy but if there is anywhere you keep meaning to go to but never get around to it please let either myself or Mandy know and we can organise a trip.

We have a coffee afternoon in Faversham at Creek Creative (on Abbey Street) on Thursday 28th January at 2pm. It is a lovely venue which doubles as an Art Gallery. Please come and join us if you can. If you don’t want to go on your own one of us will happily take you. Just let me know.

The East Kent Annual Meeting is being held at Folkestone this year on March 23rd.  We have already ordered our tickets but if you fancy coming let me know and I will see if there are any spare tickets. If you didn’t book this year I highly recommend it for next year, the speakers are really interesting and it is a lovely atmosphere where you really feel a part of a wonderful institution.

Mandy has organised a trip to Belmont House on April 26th meeting at 10.30 for tea. The cost will be £7 for the tour of this wonderful house and gardens.  Lunch will take place after the tour. Please let me or Mandy know if you would like to join us.

On September 7th we are going to another really interesting house and gardens. Quex Park and Cotton Powel museum in Birchington is amazing. There is a wonderful farm shop and gift shop, garden centre and a lovely restaurant. The trip is just £13.50 for the tour and a cream tea. Names to Mandy or me please. If you want to have a look at their website it is www.quexpark.co.uk

Frinsted village hall is the venue for the first coffee morning on March 5th at 10.00. We are in charge of the raffle this year. There will be a wonderful cake stall, book stall, bric a brac and tea and coffee. It is a lovely social event organised so that villagers who had been cut off all winter could meet up and socialise whilst raising money for various charities. This year’s charity is Whizz Kidz. Please come along and join in or if you can’t please could you donate cakes and raffle prizes. www.whizz-kidz.org.uk

There are two birthday parties coming up and there are still places available. Lynsted with Teynham have their party on 3rd February at 2pm. I do not know who their speaker is at the moment. There is one place available if you would like to join Lyn and me.

Bapchild and Tonge have their party on 18th February at 2.30pm. There are three places still available. Their speaker is Claire Ashby – Camp Bastion. Sounds interesting! Please let me know ASAP so I can respond with numbers.

That’s all at the moment, but please read your EK News as it contains all the events that are organised by our Federation.

See you all next month February 4th with Ian George talking about World War 1.
