March 2017 Newsletter

It was so nice to see new faces again this month. I hope you all enjoyed the speaker. I can highly recommend the free colour consultations. She does not try to sell anything – I think she is just passionate about what she does. For those of you that were looking forward to the sugar free baking demonstration, I am sure we will be able to rebook Lorraine at some point.

Thank you to the ladies who made a heart to show the love for the planet. They were all really lovely, Mandy’s was deemed to be the winner. We will get started earlier next year!

The coffee morning at Frinsted went really well yesterday. Thank you so much to all the ladies who made cakes and those that turned up to support us. We made £298 which I will round up to £300 and send it to Silverline. If any of you would like to find out what it means to be a Silverline volunteer please just ask me, it takes very little time and makes a huge difference to somebody else’s happiness level.

Next Friday, 10th March 8pm, is the Horticultural society AGM. Jenny would love to see as many new (and old) faces as possible. It is so important that we keep these clubs going!

The Rotary club have an indoor boot sale at Tunstall VH on Saturday 11th March 10-12. If you would like to book a table please contact Denise.

The first meeting of the Craft Club will take place on Tuesday 14th March 1pm at Joyce’s house. We are making cards using quilling. Please bring along some scissors and tweezers. If you have put your name down but can’t make a meeting just let me know. It really doesn’t matter if you are unable to attend every meeting.

It is not too late to put your name down for the visit to the Old Forge in East Street, Sittingbourne on Thursday 16th March at 2pm.The cost is just £10 including afternoon tea.

The Quiz night should be a very good evening. Just let myself or Marcelle know if you would like to join us, you do not need a team. It is going to be held at the village hall on Friday 31st March 7.00 for 7.30 and is just £7 per person which includes a nice supper. Just bring your own drinks.

The resolutions being discussed at Chartham VH on Monday 24th April are now finalised as Alleviating Loneliness and Plastic Soup. Both of these are very important issues so we look forward to hearing the case for and against them. If you didn’t put your name down just let us know and we can apply for a ticket. It is £6.50 for a good informative debate plus a great lunch!

The next lunch club will be held at The Dirty Habit, Hollingbourne on Thursday 27th April. Times and further details to follow. If you are interested just let me or Dilys know.

Dilys is also organising a trip to Goodnestone Park Garden, near Canterbury on either 17th or 18th May. Please put your name and preference of date on the list. This should be a really lovely day.

The theme for next month’s trading table is accessories. If you have any good quality scarves, gloves, bags, jewellery just bring them along. You can either sell and donate 10% to the WI or donate it.

Barbara will be in touch shortly with the next film. Manchester By the Sea was an interesting film, if a little dark!

Hostesses for April 6th are Donna, Elaine B and Diana and the speaker will be Claire Pearson and Medical Detection Dogs.
