Milstead w Frinsted Newsletter APRIL 2018.

Hope you all enjoyed the speaker this month. Although we all had a good laugh there were some very useful tips. It’s given me a few ideas for my next holiday.

On Tuesday April 17th we have Swale BC head of recycling Vikki Sedgwick coming to explain to us how to recycle correctly. We are meeting at 1pm in the Village Hall. Please support us and show your love for the planet. It won’t be long meeting and there will be a cup of tea! It is an open meeting so please bring along friends and neighbours too. If you are coming can you give me a rough idea of numbers for chairs and cups!

Next month on May 10th we will have a speaker from MIND talking about mental health; this is to enable you to make an informed decision on this year’s Resolution Mental Health Matters. There is a lot of information on the WI website and a few of us are going to the Resolution meeting in Chartham this month. I am sure most of us have come across the problems and stigma attached to mental health issues.

The Film Club will be watching Three Billboards at Faversham on Thursday 26th April at 7.45pm. If you are interested just let Barbara know on 01795 474620

The Coffee morning at Frinsted has been rearranged for Saturday 7th July 10.30-12.00. We are raising the money for New Leaf Domestic Abuse charity.  We will need cakes, books, bric a brac, plants; raffle prizes in fact anything that you think would sell. Please come along and support us on the day even if you can’t bring anything along. We are hosting the event so will need lots of items and a few helpers for the stalls please.

The craft club will meet at Joyce’s House, on Wednesday 9th May 13.00-15.00. Please let Joyce know if you are attending. We will be making some bunting for the village hall which we will use for our events. Everything will be provided and there will be something for everybody to do, you do not need to be particularly crafty!

For those ladies who put their name down for the Group meeting we will meet at Borden Village Hall April 10th at 2pm.

On Wednesday 25th April we are going to take a trip to The Turner centre with Afternoon Tea at the Walpole Bay hotel afterwards. There will be lifts organised if you need one. The cost of an afternoon tea is £12.95. Please let me know ASAP if you want to come.

Milstead Village Hall is having a social morning on Saturday 5th May 11-2 and the Horticultural Society has their plant sale on Saturday 28th April 10-12. There will be tea and coffee etc. at both events.

The WI’s Environmental and Natural History subgroup are visiting the Marlowe Theatre for a backstage tour on June 20th at 11.30. Let me know if you want to join us – maybe a lunch afterwards!

Later in the year we are having a Wine Tasting evening on September 21st. This will be in place of our games night. More details to follow.

I hope you all took your recipe of the month from the board. Thanks Donna. The lists for the events that are upcoming are always put on the table with any other relevant or interesting information. We also have a website www.milsteadwithfrinstedwi.co.uk  which has details too. If there is anything you need to know please feel free to ask one of the Committee.

Next year the East Kent Federation is 100 years old. They are planning lots of events to celebrate the Centenary – dates will follow but will include an event at the Winter Garden, Margate in December 2019. Canterbury Cathedral and Mount Ephraim in July.

If you can help us to make some simple posies to distribute at Age UK on Friday 8th June can you let me know please?  We can provide the flowers this year so we just need many hands!
